This chocolate strawberry tart recipe is so easy to make, but looks and taste divine! The perfect way to use up all leftover Fruits like strawberries.
When I received fresh baked tart crust last month from my mum, I thought about lemon fruit tart but I’ve been in a Chocolate mood lately. I wish to make something sweet and bitter. And it’s totally satisfying ALL my chocolate cravings. I used high-quality dark chocolate, it is not overly sweet but well blended with the sourness of strawberry. It literally melts in your mouth! 🙈
Prep time: 45 mins
Yield: 6-8servings
Cook time: 1 hr
Ingredients:
Tart shell pastry:
2 cups all-purpose flour
3 tbsp sugar
¼ tsp salt
¾ cup unsalted butter, cold, and cut into small pieces
2 tbsp water
Filling:
1 cup heavy cream
½ cup milk
1 cup semisweet chocolate, chopped
2 tbsp sugar
¼ tsp salt
Directions:
For the pastry, combine flour, sugar, and salt in a large mixing bowl. Add the butter and mix with hands until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs, then add eggs one by one and some water. Fold the dough together without being too wet or sticky. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
Preheat the oven to 180c. Prepare a 9-inch tart pan with a removable bottom. Roll the pastry dough on a lightly floured surface into a 12-inch circle and carefully lay the pastry dough inside the tart pan and gently press the dough evenly. Cut off any excess hanging dough with a knife. Poke the bottom of the tart with folk and fill the pastry dough with dried bean to prevent buckling.
Bake for 30 min or until the tart is golden colour, cool completely and set aside.
For the filling, heat the heavy cream and milk until it slightly simmers at the edges under low heat. Add the chocolate, sugar and salt then remove from the heat. Mix well until fully incorporated.
Pour into the cooled tart shell and refrigerate for 3 hours before cutting. Top with fresh strawberries or any fruits you desire.
