Bacon Cheese Scallion Scones Recipe

This savoury Easy Bacon Cheese Scones Recipe is packed with diced bacon, chunks of cheddar cheese and accented fresh scallion, perfect for breakfast or afternoon tea for a satisfying meal.

Ingredients

2 cups(241g) all-purpose flour

4 tsp baking powder

½ tsp salt

227g bacon, cooked 

⅓ cup scallion, chopped

1 cup cheddar cheese, grated 

4tsp(57g) unsalted butter at room temperature

⅔ cup whole milk

1 large egg


Steps:

  1. Preheat oven 220c or 420F

  2. In a food processor, pulse the flour, baking powder, salt and sugar until fully combined.

  3. Add the butter and pulse 10 times until the butter becomes a sandy texture.

  4. In a large bowl, combine egg and milk. Save 2 tbsp in another bowl. Then pour the rest into the food processor and mix until a rough dough forms. 

  5. Transfer to a lightly floured countertop, mix scallion, bacon and cheddar cheese. Knead about 10 times until the dough comes together into a relatively smooth ball. 

  6. Roll the dough about 4 cm and use a 2.5” cutter to cut about 9 pieces. In the process, reroll the scraps and cut them out until the dough finishes.

  7. Place the scones onto a baking sheet and brush with egg wash.

  8. Bake for 15 mins or until tripled in heights or golden brown. enjoy
